Our contribution to environment and energy efficiency
Through energy-efficient technologies, conscious use of materials and targeted recycling, we make our production processes more resource-friendly and sustainable.
Less consumption, more impact
The most environmentally friendly energy is that which is not needed in the first place. That’s why we rely on modern technologies to specifically reduce energy consumption throughout the company:
- Our production areas have been completely converted to energy-efficient LED lighting – saving up to 20,000 kWh of electricity per year.
- With our combined heat and power plant (CHP), we have been simultaneously generating electricity and heat directly on site since 2017. Two-thirds of the energy used is converted into heat and supplies our production via highly efficient heat exchangers – almost loss-free and locally. The remaining third is directly converted into electricity.

Keeping recyclables in the cycle
Packaging is essential in the food sector, but we use it consciously. Our goal: to minimize packaging sizes, which means reducing the use of materials, and to keep everything else recyclable and return it.
- Styrofoam boxes, cardboard boxes and disposable pallets from incoming goods are collected, pressed or reused – for a resource-saving return to the recycling cycle.
- Plastic packaging is essential in our sector, but we pay attention to recyclable materials where possible, which can be disposed of and recycled correctly.
- Since 2023, we have consciously avoided using cardboard sleeves for our smoked fish products in retail food outlets in order to reduce packaging waste. Since the introduction, we have already saved around 16 tons of paper waste with our 90g packs alone - this corresponds to approximately a stack of paper (80 g/m²) of about 64 meters high.

Premium quality without waste
We also think sustainably when it comes to the product itself: our salmon sides are processed in such a way that as little waste as possible is produced. Cuttings, belly flaps and sections are collected and reused in a meaningful way:
- Some of our customers use them to make new products such as salmon pâté or fine spreads.
- In the factory outlet, our smoked salmon trimmings are very popular – ideal for pizza, salads or sandwiches.
